Auto Propane vs CNG

What is CNG?

CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas. Its abundance makes it a very inexpensive vehicle fuel. The same natural gas that may be heating your home is the same natural gas that goes into your vehicle. It is used worldwide as a vehicle fuel in everything from small motorcycles to heavy duty freight haulers.

CNG powered vehicles produce up to 20% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to gasoline and up to 30% less to diesel.

What is LPG?

LPG stands for Liquefied Petroleum Gas. LPG encompasses a family of different gases, but in the world of Alternative Fuels, LPG refers to propane. Propane is captured and refined during the extraction of natural gas and has many comparable properties. It is used worldwide as a vehicle fuel and other portable fuel applications due to its high energy density and clean burning properties.

LPG reduces emissions in vehicle fuel applications by 26 % versus gasoline and up to 13% versus diesel.

LPG in vehicles can be stored in toroidal tanks to save trunk storage.

DID YOU KNOW?

Propane and natural gas are naturally odourless, so manufacturers will add a substance called Mercaptane, which smells like sulfur or rotten eggs. If you smell sulfur, you should have your vehicle inspected for leaks.

Why Convert your Fleet to Alternative Fuels?

Alternative Fuel Technologies are a proven and reliable way to:

Reduce your fuel costs

Propane is on average, about half the price of gasoline or diesel and natural gas is a fraction of Propane’s cost. Propane and Natural Gas are both excellent vehicle fuels being used around the world today to power everything from scooters to garbage trucks, each with their own unique advantages.

Reduce Emissions

As a clean burning energy source, auto propane and natural gas has a lower carbon footprint than traditional gasoline. A propane powered vehicle produces 26% less greenhouse gases and significantly lower Criteria Air Contaminants than gasoline and diesel vehicles. Prolong the life and investment of your fleet by updating the technology in your fleet for better fuel efficiency while reducing the environmental impact of driving when you convert to alternative fuels.

What to Expect

Driving your alternative fuels vehicle is just like driving any traditional fuel. Your vehicle will run and feel the same as it did before the conversion with no loss of performance. Because our conversions are dual fuel you will enjoy an increased driving range with the combined capacity of your gasoline and alternative fuels tank.

Most importantly, Propane and Natural Gas are both very safe fuels! They are stored in specialized tanks designed for use on vehicles and must pass stringent safety tests. The City of London Police have nearly all of their vehicles on running propane; they trust this alternative fuel to keep their officers and citizens safe.
